Ever wondered what those beautiful rotundas that fill our parks and gardens were once used for? Well the Melbourne International Festival of Brass is bringing them to life through Brass in the Park, sponsored by Bluescope Steel.
A line-up of local brass musicians from all walks of life will perform a one-off concert Sunday, September 7th 2008 at the Commonwealth Reserve Rotunda from 2pm. The free concert will feature everything from the explosive sounds of swing, to the high-octane energy of jazz to toe-tapping classics.
Bring your friends and family, grab a picnic rug and some snacks and sit back and enjoy the sounds of brass in a fun, relaxed outdoor setting on Father’s Day.

Find out more about the history of Williamstown through a series of guided walks and bus tours.
On selected Fridays during September, October and November local guides with an excellent knowledge of the area will run two tours each day.
Walking tours depart from Hobsons Bay Visitor Information Centre at 12.00pm and 2.00pm, bus tours depart at 11.45am and 1.45pm on the following Fridays: • September 5th and 19th • October 3rd and 10th • November 14th.
HMAS Castlemaine will be open on tour days from 11.30am to 4.00pm.
Tickets cost $8 for adults and $6 for children over 12. Children under 12 are free. Concessions are also available for students, seniors and health care card holders.
